Made to measure
Navy double-breasted suit
Six-button jacket in a 10oz navy worsted, shown at the forward fitting with the chalk marks still on.

Alteration
Trousers with a turn-up
Taken up 4cm with a 1¾ inch turn-up, so they just kiss the top of the shoe.

Bridal
Lace wedding dress
Bodice taken in, the hem raised for flat shoes and a button bustle added for the evening.

Visible mending
Darned socks in orange wool
Hand-knitted socks darned at the heel in a bright contrast, so the repair is part of the look.

Repair
New brass zip
A heavy two-way brass zip set into a denim chore jacket in place of a broken nylon one.

Made to measure
Basted jacket fitting
The first fitting, in canvas and white basting thread, before the shoulders are set.

Visible mending
Jumper cuffs re-knitted
Worn-out cuffs on a lambswool jumper picked up and knitted again in the original colours.

Alteration
Overcoat sleeves
Sleeves shortened 3cm from the cuff and the lining re-hemmed by hand.
